My Honest Experience Using Kajabi for Coaching & Courses
I’ve been using Kajabi for over six years, and while I love it, no platform is perfect. If you’re a coach or course creator wondering if Kajabi is the right fit, here’s my honest take—the good, the bad, and the quirks you should know before diving in.
The Good: Why I Keep Using Kajabi
- All-in-One Simplicity – I don’t need separate tools for my website, emails, courses, coaching calls, or community. It’s all under one login.
- Built-In Coaching Tools – I can manage private coaching clients with features like:
- Private notes for tracking client progress
- Shareable agendas to keep sessions structured
- Live video sessions directly inside Kajabi
- Recorded replays & resources for clients to access anytime
- Seamless Course Hosting – Creating and delivering courses is ridiculously simple, and students love the experience. It truly is best-in-class for course building. I know several people who switched from Kajabi to Skool after Alex Hormozi's platform trended. Not only do I think it's a bad idea to jump on a train just because it's trendy at the moment, because it wastes time, money, skill, resources, etc. But I personally cannot stand using that platform as a student, I find it confusing, busy, cluttered and obnoxious in style - so if we disagree on those points then Kajabi probably is not for you; however, if you've felt similarly, then I highly recommend getting setup on Kajabi and buckling in for the long haul.
The Downsides & Workarounds
- Not as customizable as WordPress – If you want extreme design flexibility, Kajabi might feel limiting. But for most people, the built-in themes are more than enough.
- Pricing – It’s not the cheapest option on the market, but when you factor in replacing multiple software subscriptions, it actually saves money. It replaces your podcast hosting, your video hosting, your website, your entire CRM, all your funnel builders, the training replaces a lot of coaches out there, your payment processors, your branded coaching platforms, your membership site, and more.
- The Membership section is ok - They have made some big updates and improvements to the membership area which I really appreciate, but it's not as strong as Mighty Networks, though as I said before, I still MUCH prefer it over Skool. As always, I recommend you sign up for 3 free trials to discern which software fits your style, function and feel the best and then move forward and be happy with the decision! You can drive yourself crazy jumping from platform to platform!
